Achieving Health and Vitality Through Persistence
When I began my health journey in May 2016, I weighed 153 lbs and was already dealing with a pre-diabetic diagnosis, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol. I knew something had to change, so I committed to regular workouts and more mindful eating. Over a few months I lost 19.5 lbs.
But like many women, I gradually regained weight. By July 2022, just before a medical procedure, I was back up to 147 lbs. I decided to use what I’d learned over the years and design a plan that truly fit my life as a senior woman. By May 2023, I had again lost about 20 lbs. — this time down to 127 lbs. Today, at 125 lbs. my blood pressure, cholesterol, LDL, and glucose levels are all in the normal range.
In my mid-70s, I feel more energetic and clear-headed than I did in my 50s. I can lift a case of water, keep up with floor exercises, and enjoy long walks again. In 2023, I even walked a segment of the Camino de Santiago with friends and earned my Compostela. My journey reminds me that it’s never too late to take charge of your health and well-being.
